Task 7/8 Role Allocation and Casting

Casting has been a hard decision as we have had to decide who fits the character profiles the best and who is a natural actor and actress. we have narrowed it down to these actors.

Jennifer Williams- Zoe Hutton

I fit this profile well as I am a very shy and nervous character naturally. I am 17 and i fit the interests of Jennifer and am able to naturally act the role.

Scott Turner- Nigel Barnes
We have chosen Nigel for this role because he fits Scott Turner. Nigel is a confident and charismatic character.Nigel is also best to play this part as he is often called the "ladies man" Nigel also has up to date fashion and is very popular.

Tyrone- Myles Richardson
We have chosen Myles for this role as Myles has a very feminine personality, Myles also wears a lot of jewellery and can be very loud and talkative. When acting Myles was very good at getting into the character of Tyrone, Myles changed his lines a little and even used a hand bag prop to make himself look more convincing for the role.

Rosie- Ella Scharaschkin

Ella was chosen for Rosie as Rosie is very loud and very nosy, she often gets in peoples business and has to know everything. Ella was very good at being able to creep people out making herself virtually unnoticeable when practising a scene in which Rosie watches Jennifer by her locker. Ella's voice was very assertive and easy to understand which also made her seem like the right choice.

Mr Adams- Mr Judge

We have chosen Mr Judge for this role as Mr Judge is a more mature person. Mr Judge also fits the role because he is smartly dressed all the time and is able to be serious enough to play a head of school.

  • Extras
Character profiles.

Jennifer Williams.
Jennifer Williams is a  17 year old new starter at Landau High, her parents tend to travel a lot, although the character is used to meeting new people she is very shy and nervous around people. Jennifer has the nickname Jenny and prefers to be called this as she doesn't like the formality of her name. Jenny is a rebellious character she listens to indie rock and likes the latest fashion trends.

Scott Turner.
Scott Turner is 17 years old he is a very popular character, he is the exact opposite of Jennifer. Scott dresses quite peppy and smart and likes to listen to chart music. He is a stereotypical boy, he is sporty, likes to mess around and socialise. Scott is a very charismatic person and knows this, Scott is known as a "ladies man".

Mr Adams
Mr Adams is the head of Landau High, he is very socially awkward and tends to get any conversation that he absolutely has to have over as quickly as he can. He is very rushed and doesn't really care about the condition of the high school.

Pupil 1-Rosie

Rosie is very loud and very nosy, she often gets in peoples business and has to know everything. she is very good at sneaking around and scares the life out of Jennifer following her when she first starts but then becomes her best friend.

Pupil 2- Tyrone.

Tyrone is a stereotypical camp teenager, he is very feminine character and is very loud. He wears a lot of jewellery and is very wealthy, which he likes to present to people. When first meeting Jennifer he is very loud and provocative toward but watches her back through out her first weeks.

Extras
The extras are just school pupils, they will be wearing smart uniform and will be disgusted at the new pupil (Jennifer) when she comes into her new school in casual clothing.

For our film we have to get permission to film in strikers bowling alley and that will be the only location we have to get permission to film within. We have also got to get permission to take the camera and tripod out of the sixth form to film out of curriculum hours to film our scene in strikers.
We will also have to get permission from the cast to include them into you tube and to take them out of lessons.

Task 3-Audience research/ Target audience

Who is your film aimed at? why?
Our film is going to be targeted toward 13-18 year old girls. These girls will be stereotypically into boys, friends and makeup and other stereotypical girly things. We have picked this audience as it is new, other members of my class have chosen to stick with the thriller/ horror genre, my group new that a rom-com would be a different approach to the task and would be more challenging. We also found that it would be more relatable for the actors and would be easier for them to fit into their roles as they are essentially the target audience.

How are you going to do this?
I am going to do this by making the main character a stereotypical girly girl,, she will listen to indie rock, wear the latest fashion whilst dressing to her music genre, she will also be into boys. To appeal to the target audience the main male character will dress quite peppy, he will be confident and will contrast with the main female character. The main character will be this sort of boy band character, good looks, charisma. He will be the sort of character the audience "swoon" for.
We will also add certain effects like filters to the main male character to make him look more attractive.
